Large companies in mining, energy, engineering, finance, telecoms and retail often run bursary programmes for fields they struggle to hire in. Many ask for strong marks in Mathematics and Physical Sciences, a financial need and a work-back or vacation work commitment.
Search the careers or “bursaries” page of companies in your field, and apply early, as these programmes often close in the middle of the year.
