NSFAS supports students from households that meet an income limit who study at public universities and TVET colleges. SASSA grant recipients who are verified are treated as meeting the financial requirement.
2027 intake: applications were reported to be open from 18 September to 31 October 2026, with no extension announced. Please confirm dates and the current income limit on the NSFAS website straight away, because this may have changed.
Applying to NSFAS does not count as applying to an institution. You must also apply for admission. Applying is free.
